Access to MedicinesPatient Assistance

No patient should have to worry about whether they can afford the care they need.

Despite more Americans having insurance, we know many face affordability issues, putting their ability to stay on a needed therapy at risk. Maintaining patient access is important for everyone. Patient assistance programs sponsored by America’s biopharmaceutical research companies are one option to help patients maintain access to needed medicines if they are uninsured or underinsured.

Since 2005, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA) has helped nearly 10 million patients get access to patient assistance programs. Sponsored by America’s biopharmaceutical research companies, the PPA is a single point of access to more than 475 public and private patient assistance programs. These programs offer access to more than 2,500 prescription medicines, including a wide range of generics.
