2014 – A Year of Opportunity

2014 – A Year of Opportunity

01.10.14 | By Josephine Martin

While 2013 was a great year, 2014 promises to be even better. As we look ahead, our focus on facilitating thoughtful discussions on some of the most important health care topics will continue. Building on the success of last year’s captivating Conversations forum, we look forward hearing insightful perspectives from additional industry experts and stakeholders and explore topics like health care technology, health education programs, what researchers are doing to help treat or cure the world’s most devastating diseases.

In addition to hosting our Conversations dialogue, we’re hitting the ground running in the first few months of the year as we discuss some of our key issues. On January 22, we will be co-hosting an event titled, “STEM Saves Lives,” with U.S. News & World Report. The discussion will focus on how STEM education, skills and training are critically important to U.S. economic growth and competition. With the U.S. currently facing a STEM skills gap, participants will focus on the potential creative and sustained approaches to finding a solution.

As many in the biopharmaceutical industry know, finding a solution to a problem or cure for a disease is rarely a simple task. Our researchers, however, are dedicated to finding innovative new ways to prevent, cure or treat today’s chronic illnesses like heart disease and diabetes. As a result, we will take time in February to release our new medicines in development report on diabetes and focus on heart health to recognize American Heart Month.

We’re excited to discuss the issues and hot topics that will define 2014, and we hope you are, too. Follow Conversations and The Catalyst for interesting discussions, industry news and other updates, and we look forward to helping patients live longer, healthier lives.
