An Event Not to Be Missed

Alzheimer’s Path Forward: An Event Not to Be Missed

Earlier this month, Bill Chin announced on this blog that PhRMA will be hosting a forum along with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation on Wednesday, October 23rd. The event, entitled, “Alzheimer’s: The Puzzle, The Partners, The Path Forward,” aims to advance important discussions of how to address the devastating disease that impacts more than 5 million Americans.

Among the discussions, participants will focus on public-private partnerships – what’s worked, what can be done better and immediate needs in the pre-competitive space – and the unique challenges in Alzheimer’s clinical trials with a particular focus on pre-symptomatic trials. As you can see from the agenda, we have assembled a diverse and deep line-up of experts that we believe are well positioned to together identify actionable steps for driving the science forward.

At the outset of the conference, PhRMA will be sharing preliminary results from a landscape analysis that examines Alzheimer’s-specific private-public partnerships over time and identifies gaps in collaborative research. We also will be releasing a new report in our Medicines in Development series showcasing the latest efforts within the biopharmaceutical sector to uncover ways to slow, delay or even prevent the disease.
