We all know someone impacted by heart disease or stroke. Well that applies to the researchers working on medicines to combat these deadly diseases, as well. Not surprising when you consider that heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, with someone dying from a heart disease related event every minute. Hear from Boehringer Ingelheim's Senior Vice President, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, Dr. John Smith on his first encounter with heart disease.

Dr. Smith also explains the impact these diseases have on your body and the different ways an individual can experience heart disease and stroke. Hear from my colleague, Stephanie Fischer, on her personal experience with stroke and the importance of knowing the warning signs.

Heart disease and stroke persist as public health challenges, but a new report offers hope. America's biopharmaceutical research companies are developing 215 medicines for heart disease and stroke. These therapies build on the progress made by existing treatments to improve the quality of life for patients.
