Week in Review: A Time to Give Thanks

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on what we’re thankful for and the progress we’ve made this year. For the biopharmaceutical research companies discovering new medicines, we're proud of our advancements that have helped develop new treatments and ensured the health and safety of our patients.
The passing of the Drug Quality and Security Act this week is an example of the progress made this year to improve the security and protection of the prescription drug supply chain. According to the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest, the counterfeit drug business is very lucrative, generating $75 billion in global revenues in 2010. Our President and CEO John Castellani recently thanked members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate for their work to safeguard the U.S. drug supply chain.
In our “Conversations” Forum this week we addressed the importance of early detection for prostate cancer. Men and women need to have an open discussion about testing for, and possibly treating, prostate cancer. If you haven’t already, make an appointment today to get a check-up and encourage your friends and family to do the same – it could save their life.
With new research being conducted around the nation and innovative treatments for various conditions in the pipeline, we have a lot to be thankful for. Check back often for more on the progress we’re making to help patients, and we'd love to hear what you're thankful for -- let us know on Facebook and Twitter. Have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving!
