Heart disease, of course, remains one of the leading causes of early death in the United States. Early detection and treatment can help prevent heart disease or, where already present, help manage it as a chronic condition.

America's biopharmaceutical research companies are also part of the solution. Today, nearly 300 new medicines to help fight heart disease and stroke are now in late stage testing or before the FDA for approval for patient use.
