Goal: Zero New AIDs Cases

I recommend taking a look at the Business World Weekender discussion for World AIDs Day: "Getting to Zero." The campaign's goal is to have zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS related deaths. While the article focuses on the Asia Pacific region it is important to keep in mind that this is a disease without boundaries. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that HIV is one of the world's leading infectious killers which has claimed more than 25 million lives over the last 30 years. However significant progress has been made in prevention and medical therapies. As the article states, "momentum gained is fragile" which is why America's biopharmaceutical research companies are continuing their efforts to develop novel and more effective therapies and vaccines to contain the disease so the millions of patients suffering today have a hope of a better tomorrow.
