Check Your Cabinets and Dispose of Your Meds – Seriously!
National Take Back Day
04.23.13 | By
Check your calendar and hop online; chances are, you’re probably near one of the DEA’s National Take Back Day’s nearly 5,500 disposal sites where local law enforcement will supervise a free, anonymous take back program between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, April 27.
This is the sixth DEA National Take Back Day , and offers the public an easy means to prevent medicine abuse and theft by getting rid of expired, unused or unwanted prescription medicines in the home.
We’ve supported DEA National Take Back Day since its inception, because it’s necessary that law enforcement and local government be involved in the implementation of any program that has a risk of diversion, or misuse, of prescription medicine. Also, it’s a free, anonymous and voluntary program that offers yet another opportunity to dispose of unused medicine.
If you’re going to be out of town this weekend (I know I will) and unable to participate in DEA’s Take Back Day – all is not lost! The FDA notes that home disposal is another option that quickly gets rid of unused and expired medicine from the home. Learn more at www.smarxtdisposal.net
