Wayne N. Burton, M.D, Wellness and Productivity Executive, JP Morgan Chase

Dr. Burton was the Senior Vice President/Corporate Medical Director for Bank One from 1982 until JPMC acquired Bank One in July 2004. JPMC is the 2nd largest U.S. bank holding company with approximately 150,000 employees worldwide. Dr. Burton is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Burton is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Business Group on Health and the Institute of Medicine of Chicago. He has been the recipient of several awards, including the Health Achievement Award from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the Jonas Salk Health Leadership Award from the March of Dimes.

In his current role, Mr. Smith works to advance policies that encourage medical progress and patient access to the latest pharmaceutical innovations. Mr. Smith is the principal author of two chapters of The Managed Health Care Handbook, 4th edition (2000), which is the premier reference on managed care practices. He also has written on disease management in The American Journal of Managed Care (forthcoming), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in the Benefits Law Journal (1996), and defense procurement policy in International Security (1982). Mr. Smith holds a J.D. from the University of Maryland, an M.A. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from Wesleyan University.

Sheryl Bronkesh understands the power and reach of research and has pioneered turning research into interactive models to clearly communicate complex information. Winner of national awards for her work, she has co-authored three text books on health-care marketing and numerous articles in professional journals. Her background includes administrative positions in marketing for large and small hospitals and multi-hospital systems. Sheryl has conducted hundreds of focus groups and one-on-one interviews with physicians, health professionals, business and insurance executives on a wide range of clinical topics, as well as the business of health care. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from American University in Washington, DC, and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University in Tempe.

Jim Hendrix has 20 years of experience in market research and economic analysis and forecasting. He has particular expertise in market segmentation and consumer behavior research, preference modeling and industry analysis. A former consulting firm manager, Jim is also adept at applying research results to business problem-solving. His current design and documentation of Internet and interactive voice response methodologies creates added value for HSM clients. Jim’s recent industry research yielded the first benchmarking data on health plan retention efforts and the first national data on drivers of customer loyalty to health plans and physicians.
