Remembering Mark Shalom, A Loving Husband and Alzheimer's Patient

A colleague of mine was sadly informed last week that Mark Shalom, a loving husband and patient who suffered from Alzheimer's disease passed away. Mark and his wife/caretaker (Sabina) were featured in a video that PhRMA produced several years back about this devastating disease.

I can honestly tell you that this video is one of the most compelling, tear-jerking and emotional videos PhRMA has ever produced.

In honor of Mark and Sabina, we'd like to feature their video today on our blog so that we can remember their very personal and touching story of just how cruel this disease can be and how difficult it is to see a loved one robbed of their memory.

Like Sabina, millions of caretakers in the U.S continue to hold out hope for a new treatment or cure for Alzheimer's. We do too. With nearly 100 medicines in development for this disease, hope is something all of us hold onto every day - particularly since the number of Alzheimer's patients is now expected to triple by 2050.

Our thoughts are with Sabina during this difficult time.
