What to Watch: Biologic Medicines in Development

10.12.11 | By Kate Connors

Our digital wizards have created another great video, this one about the more than 900 new target="_blank">biologic medicines that are currently in development to treat more than 100 diseases. It features both researchers - including the chief medical officer of Novo Nordisk, Dr. Alan Moses - and patients, including a young man with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, to talk about the role biologic medicines have played in health care so far, along with the potential for the future. For example, those 900 biologics in development include 352 to treat cancers and related illnesses, 188 to treat infectious diseases, 69 to treat autoimmune disorders, and 59 to treat cardiovascular diseases.

It's worth a watch, if only to see how strongly biopharmaceutical research companies have committed to this remarkable evolution in medicine.
