Washington, DC (October 20, 2014)– The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) announced today that Christina (“Tina”) Stow will join the organization as Vice President of Communications, effective October 27, 2014.
Stow will play a key leadership role within the communications department. She will oversee a team responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with media relations, including message development, proactive media outreach, rapid response, message research and relationship-building with key reporters and influencers. Stow will report to Robert Zirkelbach, Senior Vice President of Communications.
“We are very excited that Tina is joining our communications team here at PhRMA. Her experience managing high-profile public affairs campaigns and her deep knowledge of health care issues will be invaluable to our efforts as we seek to highlight the value of biopharmaceutical innovation and improve patients’ access to medicines,” said Zirkelbach.
Stow comes to PhRMA from APCO Worldwide, where she was Co-Practice Lead of the firm’s Corporate Communications and Issues Management service group. In that role, she helped design and execute communications strategies for organizations navigating the ongoing implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
More broadly at APCO Worldwide, Stow managed public affairs and public positioning campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and nonprofit clients in multiple industry sectors designed to help build their businesses, manage and mitigate risk, and engage their stakeholders. Prior to joining APCO, Stow held communications positions at LexisNexis Group, ChoicePoint, and Jackson Spalding.
“America's biopharmaceutical companies play an essential role in the healthcare ecosystem, providing medicines that improve everyday life and working to develop and deliver treatments and cures for the world's most serious diseases,” said Stow.
“I'm energized to be joining the talented team at PhRMA and look forward to the opportunity to support, promote and magnify the tremendous work of these critically important member organizations."
