Alzheimer's Disease: A Caregiver's Heartbreaking Story

With Thanksgiving Day approaching, many families are beginning to prepare for their annual turkey feast and reflect on all of the things they are grateful for. Many families eagerly await the arrival of this holiday to celebrate with close friends and family, but for others it can be a difficult time, especially if a loved one is in poor health.
This will be a particularly trying time for Sabina Shalom, a caregiver and wife to Mark, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. Last year, she sat down with us to talk about her struggles as a caregiver and the many hardships she faces emotionally and mentally because of her husband's deteriorating condition. We are now sharing their heartbreaking story in this video that we created, as part of our ongoing Alzheimer's video series.
In honor of Sabina and Mark, we are raising funds and awareness of the toll this disease has on the millions of caregivers in the U.S. by contributing a dollar - up to $5,000 - for every Facebook "like" of this video. All funds will go to the National Alliance for Caregiving. Please share it with others so you too can help those who take care of friends or family members with Alzheimer's.
It is our hope that future Thanksgiving Day dinners for caregivers like Sabina will be met with celebration because of the important work that biopharmaceutical research companies are doing to research and develop innovative treatments that can either delay or prevent the onset of this devastating disease.
