Inspiration From Within: Honoring Alice Till

Inspiration From Within: Honoring Alice Till

Every day at PhRMA, we work to support our member companies, whose employees are dedicated to bringing new medicines to the patients who need them.

But I recently learned about a colleague who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Alice Till, from our Scientific and Regulatory Affairs department, was awarded the Chairman's Citation by The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society for her remarkable volunteerism on the society's behalf.

Since 2004, when she began training with the LLS's Team-In-Training program, Alice has completed 11 endurance events with the "TNT" program. In 2009, to celebrate her 65th birthday, she completed a fundraising event each month of the year, tallying 10 half marathons and two marathons. To accomplish these feats, she has traveled to San Francisco, Anchorage, Nashville, Seattle, and Cambridge, MD.

The end result of all of this work? She has raised more than $225,000 toward research and toward patient and family support.

But Alice hasn't stopped there, setting a goal to reach a total of $250,000 in the next two years, before she turns 70.

Alice is a pleasure to work with in the office, but today I'd like to recognize her accomplishments outside of PhRMA. She embodies the best of all of us, and has certainly humbled and inspired me.
