Cervical cancer took center stage this week in Washington. One of PhRMA's best and brightest made an important speech this week on what the pharmaceutical industry, alongside plenty of other stakeholders, is doing to combat cancer in Sub-Sarahan Africa and Latin America.

Andrew Rudman, PhRMA's Deputy VP for the Western Hemisphere, delivered remarks this week at the opening of a three day seminar to launch a Women's Cancer Initiative on February 5. The opening panel included remarks by new Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Director Carissa Etienne; her first public event as Director General. Dr. Etienne has stressed the importance of multi-stakeholder approaches in addressing the healthcare challenges facing the Americas.

In his comments Andrew highlighted initiatives such as"Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon" where industry and other stakeholders are working to combat cervical and breast cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. An interview about Andrew's insightful comments can be seen here.
